The Phoenix Club is a book tasting club that welcomes students from Grades 9 to 12. Each session, at least one member brings a book, poem, article or any other literary piece and talks about it. Of course it’s not compulsory to talk. A lot of times people just come and sit silently listening to each and every piece that is being shared. This is not just a club for sharing but for discussion. Books and other literary pieces just provide a medium for conversation to start.
In this club we have explored many things. Sometimes people bring incredibly interesting books like ‘Wuthering Heights’ and sometimes people bring the mathematics textbook or the ISC prescribed Macbeth.
This club is boundless and is not confined to one idea or one particular manner in which we function. We are open to absolutely anything as long as it is appropriate on a school level. After all, this club is for people who want to love books and people who already do.
