CRASH COURSE ON STOCK MARKET

One day Sayantan sir instructed us to arrive in the staff room at 6 pm. There we were introduced to our Mentor for the day, Yash. He talked to us about the stock market and we had a short interesting discussion. The first step was to break into a group of fours. Then we were given different companies - Coca-Cola, Amul, Apple, Mercedes. The stock prices of each company were given to us by him. Yash then started reading out the headlines from world affairs which corresponded with the highs and lows of the stock prices of these companies. The headlines were such as - “ Microchips grow expensive day by day due to the raw material shortage” etc. He then asked us to buy or sell the stocks of these companies after analysing the headlines. We had to see that the companies that we belong to will earn more profit and bear less loss. We then calculated our profits and losses at the end of the workshop. We had a discussion about how world affairs can impact the prices of stocks of the companies. These are the products that we see around us daily, consume them or aspire for. It was an engaging and insightful workshop.
