Personal Safety Programme

by Mansi Dutt

Students of Grades 4, 5 and 6 recently engaged with a Personal Safety Programme using age-appropriate learning resources developed by Arpan, an Indian non-profit organisation that works towards the prevention of child sexual abuse through education and awareness. Through a series of engaging videos, discussions and interactive quizzes, students explored personal boundaries, safe and unsafe touches and situations, and the importance of listening to their instincts. They also learnt practical ways to respond to uncomfortable situations. The sessions encouraged thoughtful conversations in a safe and supportive environment, helping children develop the confidence and language to recognise unsafe situations and know that they are never alone in asking for help. By introducing these ideas with sensitivity and care, the programme sought to empower students with knowledge that can help them navigate the world more safely.
