The Peanut Butter and ‘Jam’ Club is a new space for students from Grades 9 to 12 to come together, make music, and have a good time. Whether you sing, play an instrument, write songs, or are just curious about music, the club is open to everyone. You don’t have to be an expert to join — sometimes, all you need is an interest in music and a willingness to try.
We, the Jam Club, want members to be able to play the songs they enjoy, discover new music, and learn from each other. Sessions can include learning songs, experimenting with different genres, improvising, songwriting, or simply sitting down and having a jam.
Playing with other people also teaches you to listen and work together. You learn when to take the lead, when to step back, and how different instruments and voices can come together. For those who are less confident about performing, the club can also be a comfortable way to slowly build confidence and get used to playing in front of others.
We hope to eventually have performances at school events and assemblies, informal showcases, and more. At the same time, not every jam needs to end in a performance. Sometimes the best part is just playing music with friends after a long day.
Ultimately, the Jam Club is about creating a space where people can explore music without taking themselves too seriously. Come with an instrument, a song, a voice, or just an open mind — and just listen to the music of your soul, man.
