The month before August, you will see a long bunch of colourful thread in almost every hand on the campus. Over the years, it has become a part of Sahyadri to celebrate Friendship Day with a tiny twist. Weaving macrame pattern designs on anchor threads, we make our own friendship bands.
In our fifth grade, our seniors taught us, with patience, various designs which not only continued the traditions but also helped us build our relationships with them.
Over the years, with practice, we have mastered many designs and this makes us want to pass it on to the new juniors. A few of us, keeping in mind our purpose, started the Friendship Band Club for classes 4–8. We look forward to building our relationship with our juniors and maybe teach them something valuable too.
Unlike readymade, store-bought bands, these handmade friendship bands give a special feeling when they are tied because they are made with love, patience and hard work.
