The human body is meant for movement but with the industrial revolution and modern lifestyle, comfort is available more than required and we are getting limited in basic body movements like bending, twisting , squatting restricting our joint mobilities . We have accepted stress as part of life in a fast paced digital world which is inviting many emotional disturbances in relationship with self and others. Yoga, the ancient practice originated in India has become the necessary tool for holistic physical and mental well being of human mankind. Yoga international day is celebrated on 21st june to promote and spread awareness about numerous health benefits of yoga globally.

Yoga is not only a form of physical exercise but a lifestyle. It works deeply on brain function, hormonal balance , heart and lung health , digestion and hence it’s an effective preventive and therapeutic tool for many lifestyle disorders. It focuses on body-breath-mind union , improves focus and enhances a sense of self awareness, emotional balance ultimately bringing peace to life

We celebrated yoga International day by sharing this wisdom through an assembly presented by Kiaana and Leia, our 10th grade students. 5th std students presented a beautiful yoga flow showcasing different asanas on musical rhythms. It was the cumulative end result of their yoga sessions that happened over a full academic year for 4-5th. Students enjoyed creating the flow and participated enthusiastically with their own ideas. The day of presentation was a bit apprehensive for students to present for the whole school but as students are grown up in a culture where they see creations non judgementally as well as perform freely, it makes them enjoy the process rather than focusing on results. The collective enthusiasm and confidance gave them a beautiful experience.

Yoga flow performing Students are Kashvi, Keshvi, Ridhya, Manu, Anirudhha, Kushal and Abeer from 6th standard.
